Abstract

The volume reconstructs the political culture of Italian communism in light of the debate among the party’s leaders and intellectuals over its international positioning, the constraints of bloc loyalty and the tensions that called them into question, its relationship with the political system, and its analysis of the processes of major social and economic transformation that Italy faced between the end of the Second World War and the 1960s.
