Abstract

In Greek and Roman Art, wounds on the represented bodies, and particularly blood, are usually not very emphasized, and are subordinated to a narrative logic. The representation of wounded people never leaves aside what has determined their state, or at least presumes it, because injuries always appear to be justified by the event in which the subject is involved. The same consideration applies to bandaging, which normally regards war wounds. Nevertheless there are some rare cases where more daily scenes are represented, showing an activity of clinical type.
