Abstract
The contribution is the occasion for some reflections on the cultural origins of the ceramic productions coming from excavations at the christian cemetery of Agrigento and on the recognizable contacts with other centers active in Sicily in the late antique and medieval age. The ceramic types, new compared to the excavation editions, which emerged from the study of the stratigraphic sequences present in the Ipogeo P and related to the activity of the medieval pottery workshop located there, were presented for the first time by Giuseppe Falzone in the publication of the excavation data of the aforesaid Ipogeo P. Here we intend to pay particular attention to the open and closed shapes of the table ware, including the amphorae, that for the significant similarities of the fabric deserve a univocal speech; the characteristics common with the morphologies of the late antique age are also underlined to follow the evolutionary lines in the pottery of the medieval age.
