Abstract
The monograph is devoted to an in-depth analysis of consistent interpretation within the European Union legal order, with particular attention to the specific obligation incumbent upon national courts to interpret domestic law in conformity with EU law. The first chapter provides a preliminary examination of the various methods of interpretation within the EU legal system. The second chapter explores the functions of the general principle of consistent interpretation, aiming to delineate its binding scope and its multiple systemic implications. The third chapter focuses on the subjective dimension, analyzing the roles of the different actors involved in the implementation of the principle. The fourth chapter addresses the material scope of the principle of consistent interpretation, offering a systematic account of the mechanisms through which it operates in relation to the various interpretative parameters. Finally, the fifth chapter considers the potential consequences arising from a breach of the obligation of consistent interpretation.
