Il ruolo degli standard privati nella promozione della sostenibilità delle indicazioni geografiche nel settore dell’olio d’oliva

Abstract

It is well known that, for several years, various entities across different production sectors have been pursuing projects and piloting the definition of objective criteria for establishing sustainability requirements; in the case of wine, this process culminated in the creation of a unified standard approved by ministerial decree in March 2022. In the extra virgin olive oil sector, to the best of our knowledge, there is only one private sustainability specification: the one certified by CSQA. The "Sustainable Extra Virgin Olive Oil" standard (DTP125) stems from a commitment to producing extra virgin olive oil using the best known practices, thereby ensuring a product that is sustainable in the broadest sense of the term.
