Abstract
This volume brings together contributions on figurative terracottas from Greek Sicily, analyzed from the perspective of their archaeological context. The aim is to highlight the value of terracottas, not as isolated objects, but as elements inserted into coherent and meaningful wholes. Considered within their contexts of discovery and in relation to other materials present, the figurines can offer new insights into the ritual, funerary, and domestic behaviors of Greek communities in Sicily. The volume is structured in two parts: the first, an introduction edited by the editors, offers a general interpretative framework for analyzing terracottas in their main contexts of use. The second part explores several case studies: two sacred contexts (Selinunte and Agrigento), two funerary contexts (Megara Hyblaea and Camarina), and a summary of finds from Syracuse. The volume concludes with a targeted bibliographic update, integrating and expanding the available resources on the specific topic of figurative terracottas in context in Greek-era Sicily.
