Abstract
Two sculptures from Lilybaeum are exhamined. The first one is a portrait statue in "heroic" nudity, bearing a back-mantle and a shield. The second one is a statue-support shaped as a cuirass standing upright. Both schemes serve to praise the character originally depicted, by visualizing his bravery and military strength, , following a well-known trend in Roman honorary and funerary sculpture.
