Oltre la selva. Osservazioni sulle nuove forme di vegetazione nelle città contemporanee

Abstract

In our urban landscapes, we are no longer able to clearly recognise forms of plant communities that respond to expressive and functional codes that are familiar and reassuring to us. Describing, interpreting and codifying them requires a particular effort. The narration of the infinite set of urban species present in contemporary settlements involves an exercise in cultural and semantic openness, acknowledging that the city is no longer just an anthropocentric artefact, but a place where elements of nature and elements of culture (assuming that it still makes sense to distinguish between the two categories) coexist and develop in a mutually dependent and therefore indissoluble way.
