SMART VILLAGE AND DESIGN FOR ALL DesignTech in the Madonie area

Abstract

The villages of the Madonie Park, in Sicily, are guardians of the identity values of the past, but they are plagued by depopulation and technological backwardness. The results of the research aimed at the implementation of sustainable technological design for the establishment of smart villages, cooperating urban centers in the enhancement of cultural heritage. Digitalization and technological innovation are protagonists of sustainable development to solve problems encountered in the territory and to interpret the solutions to be implemented. The digital transition promotes a positive social impact, improving mobility: the digital connection supports the physical one and, therefore, it can be a factor of union even in the specific case of these minor centers. The goal of the research is to implement a transformative project in the interior areas for an intelligent development. Creating smart & green communities that project the tradition of the past towards the future ensuring the survival of rural communities, giving priority to culture and combining tradition and technological and digital innovation.
