Abstract
This contribution frames the theoretical and conceptual background of the Public Play Space Symposium, focusing on games, playful strategies, and digital technologies as tools for participatory public space design. It discusses how gamification and responsive technologies can enhance citizen engagement, support co-design and placemaking processes, and foster inclusive, interactive, and performative public spaces.
