Abstract
The paper explores the relationship between space and emotions, with a particular focus on the role of collage as a means of investigation and representation of architectural atmosphere. Starting from Peter Zumthor’s reflections on the spatial qualities that evoke emotions, the paper highlights how collage facilitates the expression of subjective perceptions and dynamic interpretations of space. From Mies van der Rohe’s collages to Le Corbusier’s photomontages and the radical experiments of Archigram, the analysis demonstrates how collage transcends the constraints of traditional representation, offering expanded expressive possibilities. The findings from various educational experiences further attest to the efficacy of this technique in conveying the perception of space, enabling emotions to be visually translated. Collage thus emerges as a powerful visual language that integrates imagination and design, opening up new perspectives for architecture and design.
