Poeti in gara e pubblica rappresentazione: indagine epigrafica sui certamina poetarum

Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of inscriptions confirming poets' participation in the poetry competition. The data obtained will be analysed in the context of existing cultural relationships and dependencies between ludi and certamina, as well as in the context of the Certamen Capitolinum. Ultimately, it aims to demonstrate that the poets viewed participation in the Certamen as a great honour, as it provided an opportunity to publicly showcase their poetic talents.
