Abstract
In the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice the objective of judicial and police cooperation in criminal matters is to ensure a higher level of security for the citizens of the European Union. Title V of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union is devoted to the Common Foreign and Security Policy, in particular, Chapter 4 refers to judicial cooperation in criminal matters and Chapter 5 to police cooperation. This paper aims to analyse the EU Security Union Strategy (2020-2025) presented by the European Commission in July 2020. The objective is to strengthen and guarantee the protection of both the territory and the digital environment. The Strategy specifies the resources and measures to be adopted during this period, aimed at combating organised crime, as well as the fight against terrorism and cybercrime, under the banner of innovation and research.
