Futuros desafíos de la cooperación judicial penal en el ámbito de la criminalidad organizada

Abstract

The aim of this contribution is to analyse the future challenges of judicial cooperation in criminal matters, regarding the area that most involves, or is of greater interest, namely organized crime. In this regard, it will reflect on the concept and definition of organized crime. With regard to the European Union (hereinafter EU), reference will be made to the effective instruments for the fight against actual and future organized crime. The obtained results show the EU's potential to meet new challenges, both to protect Member States and to cooperate with international partners where necessary. There is a need to intensify cooperation both within the EU, but also internationally, as present threats are increasingly cross-border related. Ensuring security in Europe is a shared responsibility and it is therefore essential that each Member State is confident in these new perspectives and possibilities for collaboration.
