Editorial for the Issue 1/2025

Abstract

The first issue of Volume 27 of Economia agro-alimentare / Food Economy marks the beginning of a new editorial phase under the leadership of Valeria Borsellino and Søren Marcus Pedersen, supported by an international team of Associate Editors. The issue gathers six research articles addressing diverse topics in the agri-food sector across different continents—Europe, Asia, and South America—through both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The studies explore themes such as environmentally friendly livestock feed, competitiveness in the palm oil industry, profitability of cattle farming, innovative behavior of family farmers, consumer willingness to buy functional foods, and the integration of social sustainability into business strategies. The editorial also presents the renewed Editorial Board and Scientific Advisory Board, reflecting a stronger international orientation of the journal. It pays tribute to Professor Maurizio Canavari, whose commitment and vision greatly contributed to shaping the journal’s identity and reputation. The editorial reaffirms the journal’s mission to foster rigorous, interdisciplinary, and globally relevant research in the field of agri-food economics.
