Salubritati publicae necessarium: interventi relativi ad acquedotti e cloache in età imperiale e tardo antica

Abstract

The juridical, historical and literary sources, and epigraphs analysed in this article give us a perspective in which the maintenance and management of aqueducts and sewers are not confined to the need to preserve the structure itself, but have much broader objectives that meet the needs of the city communities themselves. These aims are icastically summarised in the word salubritas, in which one can see signs of a special attention to the sanitation of a city.
