Summary

Momme Brodersen, Walter Benjamin: General Critical Bibliography (1913-1983)

The following research is the first step towards a complete bibliography of the works of Walter Benjamin and the critical works on Benjamin published to date. Written with the firm intention of putting some order in an ever growing enormous mass of material, to make it available for research in specific fields and for specific questions. It is evident that more attention has been paid to the early and earliest critical comment (during the author's lifetime) than to the criticism of recent years which will only be fully available in future.
Deliberated omissions have been made: the bibliography of the first editions (already available) and the translations of Benjamin's works into different languages.
The bibliography is divided according to the subject treated, arranged chronologically within the individual chapters and alphabetically the year (an exception is made in the case of the second chapter of the second part).
The individual contributions are listed following the normal bibliographical practise: author (abbreviated names that, when possible, are written in full), titles (including the subtitles) are printed in italics. Periodicals are in inverted commars (« »); the name of the publication is followed by volumes number and page. The author's indications are in square brackets ([ ]).
