Trans-signifiance : signes efficaces et pouvoir du discours

Abstract

This contribution aims to reflect on the performative values of the sign and the dynamics and forces of meaning within the active mediation between semantics and pragmatics. The starting point is Louis Marin’s research into the semantics of representative systems, in which the chiasmatic relationship between power and representation is central, and from which his long reflection on the ideology of representation develops. On this basis, we propose to link this line of thought to the theory of speech acts proposed by John Austin and integrated into Emile Benveniste’s theory of enunciation, which will enable us to re-articulate the problem in terms of semiotic efficacy.
