Bio
Claudia Prestigiacomo is a tenure-track assistant professor at the Department of Engineering of the University of Palermo, where she works in the Laboratory of Chemical and Electrochemical Technologies.
She received her degree in Chemical Engineering and her PhD in Technological Innovation Engineering from the University of Palermo in 2017 and 2021, respectively.
Her research focuses on the development of sustainable chemical and electrochemical processes for the valorization of waste and biomass, the treatment of wastewater and contaminated matrices, and the decarbonization of the chemical industry. She has authored numerous papers in international journals.
She teaches Industrial Effluent Treatment Processes in the Bachelor's degree programme in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering.
Research Topic & Collaboration
The laboratory welcomes Bachelor's and Master's students, PhD students and international students interested in an internship, traineeship or experimental thesis. Activities in collaboration with Claudia Prestigiacomo are part of the group's research lines: hydrothermal liquefaction of sewage sludge and residual biomass; molten salt assisted chemical processes; decarbonization of chemical industry processes; electrochemical wastewater treatment under pressurized conditions.
