Abstract
This work focuses on teaching in Early Childhood Education, especially teaching in daycare centers. Its objective is to understand the meanings of care in the field of Early Childhood Education, particularly in pedagogical practices with babies and young children. Based on dialogue with authors from the fields of Philosophy and Psychology, care as ethics, a way of paying attention to themselves and to children, ethical listening, affective commitment, and responsiveness are discussed. From this perspective, based on the observation of scenes from the internship context, the focus is on the attentional movement with babies and young children. In the observed scenes, play situations in which they pretend to care for babies/dolls stand out. In this process, care as affective harmony gains prominence. In addition to imitating the external behavior of adults, imitative play in moments of care reveals intersubjective capacity and the resonance of the sharing of feelings between adults and children.
