Abstract

The bell tower of the cathedral or of the mother church of a city has been, in Sicily as well as in many other contexts, an important point of reference for entire urban communities. Through the study of a selected casuistry and the analysis of the available sources, this contribution analyses the dynamics that guided the interventions on the bell towers as urban landmarks after atastrophic events in early modern Sicily
