Abstract

The study of Dubrovnik urban image through history and of the self-representation strategies of the Ragusan Republic can count on an extraordinary range of visual testimonies of a devotional nature. As part of a wider artistic production, the paper focuses on a selection of art works dating between 15th and 16th centuries. By doing a comparative analysis, the paper intends to disclose the messages conveyed through them, tightly linking the image of the Adriatic city-state to that of its patron saint
