Abstract
Il saggio fornisce notizie inedite sulla figura di Carlos Castiglia, sconosciuto “editor” del “Teatro Geografico Antiguo y Moderno del Reyno del Sicilia”, il prezioso codice cartografico del 1686, oggi custodito a Madrid, presso l’Archivo General y Biblioteca del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y de Cooperacion; tali notizie permettono di avanzare ulteriori ipotesi sull’oscura genesi dell’opera, sulle aspettative del committente e sul ruolo del suo curatore. The paper presents unpublished information on the person of Carlos Castilla, unknown “editor” of the “Teatro Geografico Antiguo y Moderno del Reyno del Sicilia” the precious chart Code of 1686, now housed in Madrid, at the Archivo General y Biblioteca del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y de Cooperación; these reports allow you to make further assumptions on the obscure origins of the work, the expectations of the patron and the role of its curator.
