Under the agreement between UNIPA and the Paolo Giaccone University Hospital, medical PhD students may perform healthcare activities at the AUOP for a maximum of 60 hours per month for no more than 5 consecutive months. 

Doctoral student requirements

• Be registered with at least one of the following professional associations: Physicians, Dentists, Biologists;
• Have obtained at least one specialized qualification;

 

How to apply

The application must be submitted to the Doctoral Research Office of the University of Palermo, Piazza Marina 61, attaching the following documentation:

• Submit the Healthcare Activity Form;
• A positive report from the PhD program Teaching Board;
• A declaration of suitability for the position, issued by the competent physician designated by the AUOP "Paolo Giaccone."

If the documentation is positively evaluated, a Rector's Decree will authorize the doctoral student to carry out the healthcare activity and will forward it to the relevant offices of the Hospital.

 

How to renew your care activity

Upon completion of the Care Activity, it may be renewed according to the procedures indicated below, but no later than the end of the course.

The renewal application must be submitted to the Doctoral Research Office of the University of Palermo, Piazza Marina 61, attaching the following documentation.

Documents required to renew the care activity:

• Care activity form;
• Positive opinion from the Teaching Committee;
• Declaration of suitability for the role, issued by the competent physician designated by the AUOP "Paolo Giaccone";
• Certification from the head of the Operating Unit where the service was performed;
• Positive opinion from the General Director of the University Hospital "Paolo Giaccone";

If the documentation is positively evaluated, a Rector's Decree will authorize the doctoral student to carry out the care activity and will send it to the relevant offices of the Hospital.
