Rules for all cycles on the final exams obtaining the PhD title

Note on final exam requirements


Doctoral degree awarding schedule and exam sessions.

First session: November 15th – December 19th;

Second session: February 20th – March 3rd;

Third session: June 26th – July 6th.

 

  

Activities planned before the exam


Who


Convening of the Faculty Board regarding:

  • Preparation of the doctoral student's report on the activities carried out during the doctoral program and any publications;
  • Preparation of the opinion for the Doctor Europaeus title;
  • Formation of the Admissions Committees for the awarding of the doctoral degree;
  • Appointment of external evaluators.

The PhD student sends the PhD THESIS to the Course Coordinator.

 The evaluators send their opinions on the THESIS to the Coordinator

 

 PhD Evaluators

The doctoral student completes the online application for admission to the final exam, pays the required fee, and uploads the required documents:

  • Copy of a valid, signed document;
  • Statement from the coordinator in the case of a Doctor Europaeus;
  • Evaluator's assessment 1;
  • Evaluator's assessment 2;
  • Thesis title page;
  • Presentation to the teaching staff;
  • Decree of admission or extension to the exam.

In the case of documents not yet possessed by the doctoral student, the procedure remains open for uploading the aforementioned, which must be done before the final exam.

The Coordinator informs the PhD student, the Teaching Staff, the Tutor, and the PhD Office of the outcome of the evaluation and sends the evaluators' opinions to the PhD Unit and to the PhD student concerned.  PhD coordinator

The PhD student sends the final thesis in electronic format to the coordinator and uploads it to IRIS.

The coordinator issues the PhD student a "Submission Confirmation" document.

The Coordinator sends the form with the proposed commission appointment to the Research Doctorates Unit.

The Coordinator sends the THESES to the President of the Examination Commission

Publication of the selection committees. Notification of the Rector's Decree via email to the Course Coordinator, who will then inform the members of the selection committee.  PhD Office

The PhD student sends an email to mail-protocollo@unipa.it with the subject line
[Doctoral student final exam documents <surname name>, <Doctorate>, <cycle>],
attaching:

  • signed thesis title page;
  • "Deposit confirmation" document issued by the coordinator;
  • declaration of legal deposit of the doctoral thesis;
  • any request for the thesis embargo.

EXAMS for obtaining the PhD title.


 Only PhD students who have paid their fees up to date will be able to take the exam to obtain the PhD title.
