SIASP offers short-term clinical psychological support to the UniPa student community.
The AMU (University Medical Clinic) is also open to UniPa students and provides general healthcare services, including psychological care, but through different access procedures.
The AMU is an integrated unit within SIASP and may take charge of students who have requested psychological support, when the healthcare professional considers a psychiatric consultation appropriate.
A psychologist is a professional with a degree in psychology and a licence to practise.
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor specialized in psychiatry.
A psychotherapist is a psychologist (or, in some cases, a psychiatrist) who has completed a recognized specialization in psychotherapy.
Being supported by a psychologist, psychiatrist, or psychotherapist does not necessarily depend on the severity of your difficulty, but rather on the nature of your concerns, your personal needs, and the therapeutic goals agreed upon with the healthcare professional.
