The MeTChE research group has examined over 130 works, including geographical texts and travel accounts, identifying approximately 70 sources containing information on the Mediterranean composed between the Song and Qing periods. These sources have been collected, classified, and systematised for the first time within a shared digital repository.
The database, developed as a full-text resource, currently constitutes the first working basis for the study of Chinese representations of the Mediterranean from a historical and transcultural perspective.
