Il primo libro di Samuele a Qumran

Abstract

The discovery of the caves and site of Qumran profoundly changed our understanding not only of pre-Common Era Judaism, but also of the transmission of the biblical text. This book analyzes the fragments of the First Book of Samuel found in the fourth cave of Qumran, comparing them with the Masoretic Text and other versions of the Old Testament using the principles of biblical textual criticism. The analysis demonstrates how the text of the First Book of Samuel exhibits such fluidity that it does not allow us to establish certain categories of its textual transmission and that its fixation continued into the first centuries of the Common Era. This is also the first Italian translation of the Qumran fragments of the First Book of Samuel.
