Abstract

This study examines the relationship between collective memory and participatory museum design, emphasizing the key role of design in cultural and territorial regeneration. It focuses on sports-related museums in Sicily, often created in marginal areas or during crises, showing how grassroots, spontaneous initiatives can challenge top-down musealization by enhancing deeply rooted, yet overlooked, local memories through co-design-based, replicable cultural practices.
