Living Labs in Inner Areas: Redefining Territory and Developing Social Dimensions through Design-Driven Innovation

Abstract

This study examines the transformative role of Living Labs in inner areas, emphasizing design-driven and co-design approaches for social and territorial innovation. By involving local communities in co-creation, these spaces address cultural, social, and economic regeneration, fostering a renewed and participatory vision of these regions. Despite challenges in sustainability and institutional support, Living Labs reveal often-overlooked resources and potential, enabling adaptive solutions and a new narrative of inner areas as hubs of opportunity and resilience.
