Abstract
Can panpsychism really represent a solution to the mind-body problem? Does a dualist position on this issue make sense today? A comparison will be made, in this work, between the physicalist emergentism and the panpsychism, which is today widely studied, to answer the question of whether panpsychism really represents a valid alternative to emergentism. My analysis will show that, although panpsychism is a thesis that is again in vogue and philosophically coherent, it remains an unscientific position because it cannot be empirically verified. By means of this thesis, therefore, it is not possible to adequately answer the questions posed by the mind-body problem.
