Abstract
One of the current challenges is to encourage the recycling of waste, including biomass. Inulin is a lignocellulosic biomass that is naturally occurring in a huge of vegetables. It is possible to derive 5-HMF from inulin (Fig. 1), which is recognized as a chemical platform because it provides a diverse range of industrially significant products.
