Abstract
The dialogue between new design and existing architecture has always been a challenge faced by designers in very different ways. What happens if the existing building has a strongly symbolic and monumental character? If one adds to this a historical context, such as the Fascist period, in which architecture had to stand as an identity symbol of the place and its time, this dialogue becomes even more complex. These are the premises from which the study of the unbuilt project of the architect Gaetano Rapisardi for the temple of Apollo in Ortigia starts.
