Abstract
A chapter in the history of jewellery in Sicily that is still much understudied especially in its relation with the international context, and in particular the Anglo-Saxon world, is the subject of this article. The topic under study is worthy of interest since it helps us understand how a stronger link between art, culture, society, economy and progress began to develop during the nineteenth century. Particular attention will be given to the analysis of a selection of jewels with sentimental inscriptions which were typical of the second half of the nineteenth century.
