AURELIO BURGIO

Archeologia, contesti urbani e territorio per la lettura del patrimonio culturale

Abstract

Some example of activities in urban and landscape archaeology carried out in northern Sicily are very useful to show the significant link between research, increase in knowledge, protection and enhancement of the cultural heritage. Aspects of the urban landscape of Termini Imerese, inhabited town since the late classical age, and others derived from observations of the rural landscape (Himera hinterland, Halaesa), allow us to grasp forms of continuity and discontinuity connected to the characteristics and complexity of the landscapes, in a continuous interrelationship between past and present.
