VITO MATRANGA

Le focacce nelle Madonie

Abstract

The now almost forty years of interest of the Atlante Linguistico della Sicilia (ALS) in dialects and, more generally, in all the varieties of the Sicilian linguistic repertoire has enabled the collection of numerous oral documents of inestimable value on the linguistic and ethnographic levels, which flow into the Archives of Sicilian Spoken Languages. The recognized need to return to the scientific community and "to the territory" also a part, previously processed and analyzed, of the sound and/or videographic documentation poses today new challenges not only technological. The Vocabolario Atlante Multimediale della Sicilia (VAMS) project combines the lexicographic perspective with the geolinguistic one according to models already experimented within the Atlante Linguistico della Sicilia (Linguistic Atlas of Sicily) and aims to respond to these challenges with the objective of returning, not only to the scientific community, the most relevant aspects of Sicilian dialectal culture (including that relating to the alloglotte communities) through organized access to oral, iconographic and videographic evidence collected in the territory. The first volume of this project are dedicated to “focacce” in the Madonie area.
