Progettare la vita di coppia tra lavoro precario e doppia carriera

Abstract

The study aims to investigate how some transformations in the world of work, such as job insecurity, have repercussions on the couple's life choices. In particular, the paper examines the changes in family projects of couples with "double job insecurity" and "dual career". These couples are often paralyzed by excessive state of uncertainty and/or hard working time, and this weakens their plans for the future. However, having a partner that experiences the same insecurities can help the two members of the couple bear the continuous "family transformations" and improve their equal relationship. The experience of these couples is marked by changes and by the need for coping with various aspects of life in two; the stability of a couple is determined by their ability to respond effectively to the changes of their life cycle. Accordingly, educational training for young people to life as a couple can explicit their own resources. At the same time young couples, in order to plan a life together, should be sustained by social policies aimed to support normative and non-normative critical family events.
