CINZIA FERRARA

NEW IRANIAN GRAPHIC DESIGN'S IDENTITY THROUGH THE UNITY AND THE MULTIPLICITY

Abstract

The meaning of the term progettare (to design) comes from the Latin projectare, to cast forward, and as an arrow must be drawn back with effort to be shot from a bow, analogously there exists in design two essential moments, the link with the past and the projection into the future. This is particularly true for Iranian graphics that sinks its strong roots into a terrain constituted by a long tradition of typography and by an equally important and ancient calligraphic tradition that moves sinuously along the curved lines of Farsi characters that compose the alphabet of the official Persian language.
