Since 1997 Dr. Moncada is specialized in soilless culture of strawberries in greenhouses and plastic tunnels. She is studying strawberry soilless culture on peat, cocos, rockwool and alternative local substrates which are recycled organic materials. She is starting a new research project on strawberry soilless production and trials on concerning recycling and disinfection of drainage water. She has participated to national and international conferences on the protected cultivations and to the II Joint meeting of WG4 of European Plan Cost Action 836 about Nutrition studies and soilless cultures, in Versailles (16-17th of December in 1999).
She has scientific experiences on:
- physiology and techniques of production of gladiolus and ixia,
- physiology and techniques of production of vegetable according to various physical and hormonal treatments;
- appraisal of cloni of Chamaerops and ornamenal species in Mediterranean environment;
- alternatives to methyl bromide for soil disinfestation;
- nutrient solution for vegetables in soilless culture.
