We inform you that, due to the health emergency that our country is going through and according to the Decree of the Prime Minister and to the Ordinance of the President of the Sicilian Region of 8th March 2020, in order to prevent the spread of the infection by Coronavirus, all cultural activities, events and shows are suspended until 03rd April 2020, unless otherwise specified.

We also inform you that cinemas, theaters, museums, galleries, historic buildings, libraries, gyms, pubs, clubs etc. are closed.

Online Lessons starting from the 09032020

Dear Student,
From Monday 9 March 2020, the lessons of the University of Palermo will be available exclusively online.
Each student must register, through the student portal, for the courses he intends to attend during the second semester.
For each of the courses that use the online mode, a series of measures have been prepared to facilitate remote use:

The teachers can contact the students through the teaching platform, sending e-mails to the institutional addresses of the students.
Teachers can upload teaching material in the appropriate section of the student platform.
Teachers can create video lessons (live or catch-up) on the Microsoft Team platform. The credentials to access this platform are: name.surname@you.unipa.it

For each course there has been set up a virtual classroom on the Teams platform that will allow you to follow the lessons.
To access the lessons in online mode, you have to install Microsoft Teams on your device (PC both MAC and Windows, laptop both MAC and Windows, Tablet, Smartphone) by following the instructions in the guide you find below.

To access to the virtual classroom, there is a code required that is different for each course and it has to be entered in the student’s portal.

You will find the instructions for entering the teaching code in the guide you find below. It’s useful to follow the lessons with Microsoft Teams.
It is possible to access the Microsoft Teams virtual classroom at any time. Use the teaching code to consult the previously recorded video lessons.

Double Degrees in Molecular Biology and Health, double degree course between the University of Palermo and the University of Coruña, Noemi Lo Re


On October 18, 2019, Dr. Noemi Lo Re received her Master's Degree in Molecular Biology and Health (curriculum in Molecular Biology, coordinator Prof. Flavia Mulè), a double degree in the international program activated by our University with the University of Coruña.

Dr. Noemi Lo Re, has discussed an experimental thesis entitled "Role of the protein subtilisina/kexin convertase type 9 (PCSK9) in non-alcoholic liver steatosis (NAFLD)" carried out under the supervision of Prof. Antonella D'Anneo and Dr. Melchiorre Brain.

The double title between the MSc in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Genetics of the University of Coruña and the LM in Molecular Biology and Health of the University of Palermo is an important moment of cultural exchange, attractiveness and scientific growth for those students who decide to implement their training at the partner University.

The ItaStra Summer School returns with the same successful programme: study,  art, sea, sun and enjoyable tours.  

 
ITALIAN LANGUAGE COURSES
Summer School is an intensive study program of Italian language and culture, from a basic to an advanced level for international students from all over the world.
Each module (40 hours) lasts two weeks, from Monday to Friday from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm. Classes are held in well-equipped classrooms.

PROGRAMME:

::: Standard courses (classes in the morning / from all over the summer school period)

::: Advanced Special Courses** (morning / from 29/7 to 9/8 or from 19/8 to 30/8)

::: Special Lab** (afternoon): Italian&Cookery (afternoon / from 15/07 to 26/07)

**Advanced Special Courses: Textuality, syntax, poetry, contemporary Italian language, academic writing and fondamental cores of occidental culture.

**Italian&Cookery: Practical cooking lessons are taught by a qualified chef specialized in Sicilian dishes. A teacher of ItaStra will learn Italian language’s contents related to food.

EXTRA-EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Each module provides for 1 DAY TRIP*** to the most beautiful turistic attraction sites of Sicily (Taormina, Cefalù, Agrigento, Riserva dello Zingaro) and 4 TOURS all around Palermo (Arabic-Normanne itinerary; museums, theatres and churchs). Young tutors, from the University of Palermo, will support foreign students out of the class, in social and entertaining activities.

***For 1 DAY TRIPS a small contribution is required
