
The Department of Audiology, Palermo University, was formed in 1974. Its main activities are associated with the specialty of Audiological Medicine. This is a non-surgically orientated approach to the problems of hearing and balance : diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation of adult and paediatric patients.
The department is well equipped to deal with a wide range of conventional diagnostic audiovestibular tests.
Pure tone audiometry
Immittance testing including tympanometry and acoustic reflexes
Electrophysiological tests including ABR and Cortical tests
Speech discrimination
Paediatric behavioral tests
Tinnitus tests

The department is well equipped to deal with hearing aid service (assessment techniques, hearing aid selection, hearing aid evaluation (including sound field testing)
