The School of Basic and Applied Sciences is composed of the following Departments:
Biological, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies, Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, Physics and Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science, Earth and Sea Sciences, Experimental Biomedicine and Clinical Neuroscience (related cultural affinity).

The School includes 24 courses of study (degree, master's degree, single-cycle master's degree) and also the School of Specialization in Hospital Pharmacy.

The students who enroll in the courses offered at the School are approximately 15 percent of the entire student population of the University of Palermo each year.

The School of Basic and Applied Sciences covers a wide range of educational opportunities which is divided into 10 degree courses (three-year), 11 master's degree courses (biennial) and 3 single-cycle degree courses (five-year), offering a remarkable possibility of choice for those students who wish to undertake studies in the scientific field, both in relation to basic degree courses, and with regard to the completion of their cultural path through master's degrees.

It is also the ideal location where the scientific community evaluates the validity of the training offer in relation to the impact on employment, in order to adapt this offer also based on the requests received from the territory.

Its institutional headquarters is located in Via Archirafi 28.
