Born in Palermo on November 25, 1961 . Graduated in Civil Engineering Construction section in March 1986 . Ph.D. in Structural Engineering with dissertation thesis held on September 14, 1994 . Researcher from May 5, 1993 for the scientific sector H03 at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Palermo. Associate Professor from 1st November 2001 for the scientific sector ICAR/08 (Structural Mechanics) at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Palermo. He was a member of the board of the Dipartimento Città e Territorio of Palermo. He was a member of the board of the Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering of Palermo. He was Deputy Director of the Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering of Palermo. He is a member of the Academic Board of the PhD in Structural Engineering from Palermo and has held the position of Secretary of the Board and Deputy Coordinator . He was a member of the Scientific Committee of the Intensive Workshop "Optimal Design of Materials and Structures " held in Paris ( 26/28 November 2003) at the Laboratoire de Mécanique des Solides , Ecole Polytechnique in Palaiseau . He was a member of the Scientific Committee of the First International Francophone Congress for Advanced Mechanics held in Aleppo, Syria 2 to 4 May 2006. He is reviewer of articles for international journals. He was a member of the Permanent Observatory of Teaching (OPD ) of the Faculty of Architecture of Palermo. He was responsible for research projects in the local area . Participate in research projects at local and national levels.

The main issues addressed in the conduct of research, evidenced by approximately 100 publications produced, are:

bounding techniques for plastic deformation ; (static and dynamic) step by step elastoplastic analysis, iterative method for the determination of the solution of linear complementarity problems, proposing of an appropriate numerical algorithm, optimal design problem formulation for structure subject to static and dynamic loadings; analysis and optimal design of elastoplastic structures provided with protective devices against seismic action (base isolation system), computational and experimental analysis of masonry vaults; experimental analysis of woven for sailing.
